So what is a Coffee Maven anyway? A maven is someone who knows a lot about a particular subject. The truth is we are all know a lot about something that interests us. So a coffee maven would be someone who knows a lot about coffee. I cannot say I know a lot about every aspect of coffee. I am, however, enjoying learning everything I can about every aspect of coffee, which matches one of my personal core values: I will be a life-long learner.

My favorite aspect of coffee has been learning to make coffee with the various coffee brewing methods: American drip, espresso, traditional pour over, Clever Coffee Dripper, French press, Chemex, Aeropress and cold brewing. Every evening either Jeff or I set up American drip for the next morning. Each afternoon I usually brew using another brewing method.
To date, my favorite brewing method is the Clever Coffee Dripper or the Bonavita Wide Base Porcelain Immersion Dripper.
My favorite coffee at this time is the Colombia Timana San Marcos. I really enjoy coffees from Central and South America.

A few of my favorite things to do aside from coffee are: cycling, reading and watching epic stories in movie form. Some of my favorite stories are the Chronicles of Narnia. I also collect lion art: paintings, prints, custom art pieces with a lion as the primary focus.

I Iove hanging with my family.

My Dream List:
Open a coffee café with a coffee roaster in it.
Ride another 200 mile bike ride. Jeff and I have already done the Seattle to Portland Bike Ride. I would really like to ride from Seattle to Vancouver, BC.
I am looking forward to many trips to coffee origins. In 2014 we had the opportunity to visit a coffee farm outside of Moshi, Tanzania. This year we are traveling to the Kona Coast on the Big Island of Hawai’I for the Kona Coffee Festival in November. In the coming years, we are planning a trip to origin in Brazil with our friends at JC Coffee Farms.

You may not know…I have been married to Roastmaster Jeff for 31 years. We have three grown children (two daughters and a son) and three granddaughters. Four years ago I left my 28 year career as a Registered Nurse to chase my dream of opening a café. We started with roasting as we learn about coffee and business. I am also a pastor in our local church, Passion Worship Center.
