Lamppost Coffee Roasters takes a family to build and run. Yes, we really are a family business! It has taken the whole family to launch Lamppost and see my dream become a reality. We do have lots of community and friend support, but I am very grateful for my family working alongside of me (sometimes for and, at times, inspite of me) to create Lamppost Coffee Roasters. This week, our family member being highlighted is Kari Grinstead, Shop Assistant Extraordinaire. Kari is an integral part of Lamppost. She is pretty much able to handle everything except the actual roasting and the financials. ~ Val, Owner & Coffee Maven

How are you related to the Lamppost Family? Daughter of Coffee Maven & Roastmaster. I am Jeff and Val's middle child.

This is affectionately called the Kari Pose!

What is your role in the business? The official bag labeler, bagger, weigh-er, co-deliverer of coffee; Facebook administrator; Pinterest guru and pinner; social media support and help desk

Favorite facet or aspect of coffee/coffee industry you have enjoyed learning about: I have enjoyed learning how amazing fresh roasted coffee tastes in comparison to your run of the mill, bought at the store coffee. The different tastes that coffee has depending on where it was grown, what level it is roasted at, and how it is brewed is crazy to me!

Favorite brewing method: Depends on the time of day. At 5:30am when I'm getting ready for work, the drip coffee brewer because it's the fastest way to get a lot of coffee. I also have a clever coffee dripper at work, which makes a great pick me up cup when I'm on my lunch.

Favorite coffee: I love the coffees that have dark chocolate, cocoa-ie, nutty undertones in the flavor. My current flavor is the Brazil Carmo de Minas Senhora da Carmo.

Something not generally known about you: I was the accident prone child growing up, have two metal plates and eight screws in my head, but have made it 19 years without visiting the ER! Wahoo!
