Coffee Maven Note: I missed posting this a few weeks ago when I included it in the Lamppost Weekly Menu & Ezine. # facepalm I have been so thankful for Jessica Phelps, Temporary Shop Assistant. She arrived in early August and stayed with us through the middle of November. She is welcome any time to come and be an ongoing part of the Lamppost Family. She has done everything from empty trash and mop the shop floor to bagging coffee to delivering coffee to helping and selling at The Tunes@Tapps Outdoor Market. Jessica is my niece. She came to stay with us and help out while I have been recovering from back surgery and returning to full strength. Not only has Jessica been a HUGE help in the shop, but she has been a delight to have around. She also fit right in! She chauffeured me around when driving was too painful. Cleaned up a few messes when I couldn't sweep or mop up after myself. Thank you, Jessica! ~ Val
Here's a little bit about Jessica:
How are you related to the Lamppost Family? The owners, Val and Jeff King, are my aunt and uncle.

What is your role in the business? I pretty much do everything besides roasting the coffee and the finances. Favorite fact or aspect of coffee/coffee industry you have enjoyed learning about: I've enjoyed fine tuning my coffee making skills. Although, now I can never go back to just throwing some coffee into the pot and let it brew. I foresee spending a chunk of money on quality equipment in the near future. However, my FAVORITE part has been, learning about the coffee suppliers and the good they are doing in the countries we buy our coffee from.

Favorite brewing method - Good ol' fashion drip brew. Favorite coffee - Really anything from Central and South America.

Favorite things to do not coffee related - Travel and make music/worship. Dream List - Meet the Queen of England...why not? Have a farm, adopt a ton of kids, build a tree house oasis, travel to all the countries in the world, and climb mountains (not Everest). (Coffee Maven Note: Jessica is currently in the United Kingdom visiting some good friends, one of whom lives in Wales. Jessica and Zoe were 10 feet away from Prince William and Kate. So why not the Queen of England?!)

Something not generally known about you - I've eaten dog and didn't mind the taste. So hide yo Poodles, hide yo Chihuahuas, and yo mutts. Explanation, I was in Micronesia and they eat dog. I wouldn't choose to eat it but I was honored with a basket of food that had some dog in it.
